It's almost a week now and it's still not scanned them all completely. A few days ago one of the accounts (the default one) became erratic. My music is on another partition (drive D) on the same hard drive. Sometimes it received mail, other times it did not. However I recalled how when I had another problem with WMP 12 I resolved this using Microsoft Fix It Centre and found the libraries were empty, so here is a solution to this problem. In-case no-one else has already - Right click on the music tab on the left hand side of wmp (underneath play-lists). "Windows 7" and related materials are trademarks of Microsoft Corp. Everytime I open WMP 12, it starts updating my music library. Then the next time I open media player it does the same thing. WMP12 will check each time it's run to make sure that any changes with the files are recorded within the player.
Now my pictures and videos keep adding themselves to the player. Second, when I delete a song, I get $IZQSPI6 added under OTHER / Unknown Album for each song I delete. There is a special file called "wmpfolders.wmdb" which stored information about all folders looked through by WMP.
They are all different codes, but start with a $ sign. You can find this file in you local app folder: c:\Users\[your name]\App Data\Local\Microsoft\Media Player.
What you can do with this file is mark a folder so WMP will ignore it and will not update any files stored in this folder.
Every time i open WMP it starts scanning my drive using half of cpu and in the bottom there's "updating media library", or "retrieving media informations for ...." it works for a couple of hours, then it says "update complete", or something similar. If i close WMP and reopen it, it starts scanning again... WLM 2011 is dragging its feet like a reluctant child!
If i close WMP and reopen it, it starts scanning again... I have one hotmail account and one gmail account set up.
